Dear Customers, we inform you that European Regulation 2017/1410 has been published, amending Annexes II and III to Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council on cosmetic products.
"In particular reference is made to ingredient 3 and 4- (4-hydroxy-4-methylpentyl) cyclohex-3-ene-1-carbaldeide (HICC or LIRAL) CAS 31906-04-4, should not be used in cosmetic products as they are the fragrance allergens which caused the highest number of contact allergies cases in past years. Consequently, there is a potential risk to human health and those substances should therefore be prohibited in cosmetic products."
Therefore, "from 23 August 2019 cosmetic products containing one or more of the substances prohibited by this Regulation shall not be placed on the Union markett. From 23 August 2021 cosmetic products containing one or more of the substances prohibited by this Regulation shall be not be made available on the Union market."
Our company has stopped using this ingredient in the new formulations for a long time. In the fragrances already on the market, the ingredient will be replaced with a widely tested raw material, which will not produce any olfactory variation on the fragrance itself or on the product finished.
The request for any samples of the fragrances without LIRAL will be handled respecting the timing of the above-mentioned Regulation.
